How to sign into Keynes

Your personal access code and chosen two-factor authentication method are required to authenticate and log onto Keynes. The following step-by-step instructions walk through the sign-in process for Keynes. Text that appears in italics should be replaced by the type of information being requested (for example, where you see access code you should type your personal Keynes access code.
  1. Download and install SecureCRT, a terminal emulator supported by UW-IT.
  2. Connect to keynes.u.washington.edu using SecureCRT
    1. You must either be using a UW network connection or Husky OnNet
  3. Type your Keynes access code in the Usercode field
  4. Pres <Tab> or <Return>
  5. Type your password. (You will not be able to see the characters you are typing)
  6. Press <Enter>
  7. Choose from your available 2FA options and type the Duo passcode you receive
Note: To send information to the system, such as when logging in, use the enter key on your numeric keypad or hit Control+J if you don't have a numeric keypad (such as when using a laptop). After logging in the UW Technology Main Menu is displayed, unless this is the first time you have signed on with this access code, or if it has been 60 days since you last changed your password, in which case you will be directed to the password change screen.

Two-factor authentication

Keynes requires you to authenticate with two-factor authentication (2FA). After logging into your Keynes account with your access code and password, you will be asked to authenticate using your selected 2FA device.

Message reading The password you have entered is invalid Message reading This usercode has been suspended Message reading Usercode may not be used for logon Doesn't accept password, but no error messages and the cursor moves back up to usercode field.
