Overview
MyUW mobile integrates with UW Event Calendars to support students through the Relevant Events feature. This feature pulls event data from departmental UW Event Calendars (Trumba) and displays events to students based on their declared major. For example, a music major can see events published on the Music Department's UW Event Calendar. This integration helps students stay informed about events relevant to their course of study and reduces the number of places they need to check for information.
Benefits
- Personalized Event Information: Students with identified majors can see events that are pertinent to their interests and studies.
- Enhanced Communication: Departments can easily reach students and inform them about events that can enhance their academic experience.
- Streamlined Information Access: Integrating MyUW and UW Event Calendars reduces the number of places students must check to get the information they need.
How It Works
- Event Updates: MyUW checks for new events every time a student logs in. Any events scheduled to occur in the next 14 days will appear.
- Visibility: Only students with declared majors will see relevant events. Students with double majors will see events relevant to both majors, and those with a major and a minor will see events for both. Graduate students will see events relevant to their course of study.
- Interdisciplinary Programs: Students in interdisciplinary programs, such as Applied & Computational Math Sciences, may see events from multiple calendars that map to their major.
- Trumba Software: Only events posted to calendars running on Trumba software will appear on MyUW. Departments not currently using Trumba are encouraged to consider making the switch.
Initial Release
For the initial release of Relevant Events, about 65% of majors were mapped to a departmental calendar.
