When it comes to sharing events across different UW Event Calendars, there are two primary methods: "Show On" and "Mix In". Regardless of which you choose, it's important to remember that each calendar should use only one of these methods to avoid conflicts.
Choosing the Right Method
The choice between "Show On" and "Mix In" depends on whether you want to share select events or all events from your calendar.
Share Select Events with Show On
- "Show On" allows calendar editors to share individual events with other UW Event Calendars for which they have "Show On" permissions.
- This method enables bi-directional sharing, meaning a department can promote some of their events to a Campus, College, or School UW Event Calendar and also share events from these higher-level calendars down to the department's calendar.
- By default, "Show On" permissions are initially configured by UW-IT when a UW Event Calendar is first created. To request "Show On" permission for a new calendar, contact help@uw.edu.

Share All Events with Mix In
- "Mix In" shares all events from one UW Event Calendar (usually a sub-calendar) into another (usually a parent calendar) in one direction.
- Events mixed into a parent calendar can be filtered by selecting the UW Event Calendars that own the shared events; this filtering is enabled by inserting the appropriate "spud".
- Each sub-calendar can also be published on a separate web page, allowing end users to subscribe to just its events.
- Note that it is not possible to subscribe to events from a mixed-in calendar via the parent calendar.
- The "Mix In" setting must be configured by a UW Event Calendar publisher. To request setup of a "Mix In" or inquire about its suitability for your calendar, send a message to help@uw.edu.

Example
A UW-IT training calendar shows training events from two sub-calendars: one for Panopto training sessions and the other for Canvas training sessions. A person viewing the parent training calendar can choose to see all training sessions available for both Panopto and Canvas or filter to see sessions from only one sub-calendar at a time.
