When it comes to sharing events across different UW Event Calendars, there are two primary methods: "Show On" and "Mix In". Regardless of which you choose, it's important to remember that each calendar should use only one of these methods to avoid conflicts.
Choosing the Right Method
The choice between "Show On" and "Mix In" depends on whether you want to share select events or all events from your calendar.
Share Select Events with Show On
- "Show On" enables one UW Event calendar to share its individually-selected events onto other calendars.
- When you grant a calendar the show-on permission, that calendar will be able to share their events onto your calendar.
- "Show On" permissions are initially configured for calendars to share events to the parent calendar (college, school, or campus) when a UW Event Calendar is first created. To add "show on" permission later, see our documentation on how to show events on other Trumba calendars.
Share All Events with Mix In
- "Mix In" shares all events from one UW Event Calendar (usually a sub-calendar) into another (usually a parent calendar) in one directions
- A calendar may have multiple mix-in calendars, and viewers can select to see the events from specific mix-in calendars.
- Request the "Mix In" setting when you request to create a new calendar.
Example
A UW-IT training calendar shows training events from two sub-calendars: one for Panopto training sessions and the other for Canvas training sessions. A person viewing the parent training calendar can choose to see all training sessions available for both Panopto and Canvas or filter to see sessions from only one sub-calendar at a time.
