Power Platforms

Overview

Power Platforms is the catch-all name for Microsoft's Power- suite of cloud-based tools that can help you build custom apps, automate your work, and analyze/visualize your data. There are currently 3 Power Platforms tools available at UW: Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.

Use this landing page to navigate around our various articles on Power Platforms topics. You can use the buttons below to reach general articles that apply to all Power Platforms products, and in our 'Getting Started' section you can find links to pages specific to the individual Power- tools.

Current/active staff and students of UW can use Power Platform tools' basic features with their existing UW Office 365 license, but advanced features may require an additional license to use. See our individual articles on each Power Platform tool to learn more about what features are available, and visit the UWare pages for each tool to learn more about additional license costs.

Why Use Power Platforms?

Sure, there are plenty of tools out there to help you automate tasks, build business intelligence reports, or create you own in-house apps. But, Power Platforms tools all share a few awesome features that let them stand out at UW:

FAQs

Power BI Pro comes standard with the UW Office 365 license that all faculty, staff, and students get by default. Temporary staff, contract staff, and other users who do not have a UW Office 365 license can be provisioned for these services via the Provisioning Request Tool by any full-time UW employee.

Shared NetIDs, service accounts, and application accounts cannot use Power BI Pro.

The UWare team is working hard to make Premium versions of Power Platforms available for license at UW. There's no current date for release scheduled, but rest assured that Premium Power Platforms licenses are coming soon! Keep an eye on this page, as well as UWare's Software Catalog, for more info.
