2024 UW Tools for Teaching & Learning Survey

The 2024 UW Tools for Teaching & Learning survey gathered feedback from instructors (453 respondents) and instructional designers (79 respondents) across University of Washington campuses to assess educational technology needs and satisfaction. The survey aimed to identify emerging needs, gauge user satisfaction with current tools, and inform the development of a streamlined collection of instructional technologies.

Three major challenges emerged as priorities for new tools and services:

  1. Artificial Intelligence: Departments are grappling with both concerns about academic integrity and opportunities for incorporating AI tools into teaching.
  2. Accessibility: Responses reflected a growing demand for better tools and support to create accessible course materials.
  3. Student Engagement: Many instructors report struggling with declining in-person attendance and student engagement, particularly post-pandemic.
