Live captioning (machine generated)

Zoom meetings are default enabled with machine-generated live captions. When meeting and webinar participants speak, captions will appear live as they speak. The machine-generated transcript can be saved as a local text file by the meeting host. By default, meeting participants cannot save the meeting transcript.

Because the speech-to-text is machine-generated, accuracy will vary, and does not meet disability accommodation requirements. The machine-generated live captioning feature should not be used as a replacement for professional captioning services.

For enrolled UW students needing captioning to access course-based Zoom meetings, contact UW Disability Resources for Students
