By default, web publishing services are not activated for a NetID when it is created or when affiliations change. You must manually activate web publishing services in order to create a website on the Shared Web Hosting platform.

Activating Web Publishing

1. Visit Manage UW NetID Resources for the account.
2. Click on "Computing Services" on the left sidebar.
3. Check "Vergil Account" or "Homer/Ovid Account".
4. Check "Web Publishing" or "Student Web Publishing".
5. Click on "Subscribe."

Note: To deactivate Web Publishing, follow the instructions above, but click 'Unsubscribe' on step 5 for the services selected.

Both a student and employee?

If you see both Vergil and Homer/Ovid, then you are eligible for both the student and employee web publishing services. The multiple affiliations page explains more about what will occur in this situation.
