Live Video ID Verification is used to confirm your identity through a video call. UW Information Technology (UW-IT) requires this verification for certain needs, such as resetting your UW NetID password or obtaining a bypass code for two-factor authentication/Duo.
Overview of Live Video ID Verification
- A Valid Photo ID is Required: Have a current, non-expired photo ID from the list of accepted IDs ready; more information below. The ID must be clearly visible to the agent.
- Technical Requirements: Ensure you have:
- A device with Zoom installed or access to Zoom online
- A stable internet connection
- A functioning webcam
- Good lighting to clearly show your face and ID
- Joining the Verification Call: Once prepared, join the live video call. The agent will guide you through the process to verify your ID.

Technical Requirements
Please ensure you have the following before you start the call. If you can’t ensure all of the technical requirements, we might not be able to verify your identity.
Zoom app
You’ll need to download Zoom to your computer or device in advance of the verification process or access the Zoom meeting via a computer web browser. How to get UW Zoom.
Stable internet connection
To verify your identity the agent will need to clearly see your face. The video feed cannot be blurry, pixelated, or degraded from a low-quality internet connection.
A device with a functioning webcam
Your device must have a functioning webcam that allows the agent to see your face and identifying document(s). You may need to bring your ID closer to the camera so the agent can clearly see it.
Good lighting
Join your verification session from a well-lit environment. The agent will need to be able to clearly see both your face and identifying documents. Ensure there are no shadows that will cover your face or preventing an agent from seeing your documents.
