UW Policies for Power Apps

How to Use This Page

If you have ever asked a question that starts with "Why can't I..." or "Is it OK to...", you've asked what we consider a "Policy question".

Policies are UW's rules for what can or can't be done, in this case using Power Apps. Sometimes, those rules are made by someone outside of UW (like state/federal legislatures or Microsoft); sometimes, they're decided by UW leadership or are limitations of the technology itself.

In most cases, the explanation of why a policy is what it is will be big enough to take an article all to itself! But, occasionally we get lucky and can answer a policy question in a sentence or two.

This page has two main sections:

  1. List of Policy Articles - For those policy questions that justify a deep dive into the specifics. This list helps make it easy to find policy articles, especially if you know what you want to know, but aren't sure how to word it for a search bar.
  2. FAQs - Quick answers to the most common policy questions. Answers to these are usually simple enough to find with a Google or Copilot search, but we'll catalogue them here to make your life a bit easier!

If you can't find an answer to your question in either section, shoot a message to the Help Desk at Help@uw.edu; you may even inspire a new article!
