Why is this needed?
When Configuration Items (CI) come into UW Connect they are not related to a Service Offering or Business Service. This information should be added by the Service Owner or Manager(s) by updating the CI’s “Governed By” field.
What are the benefits?
Steps to follow:

1) Select this link to view the UW-IT Configuration Item list. 2) If you don’t see the column for Governed By, use the gear in the upper right to add it. 3) Expand the class group(s) that are used by your service.

To Update from the List View 4) To update from the list view, click into the Governed By field as shown and hold the CTRL key down until all desired rows are selected. 5) Double click and type in or use the lookup button to select the name of the Service Offering.
In the rare event a Service Offering is not applicable, select the name of the Business Service. |

6) Select the green check box to update the selected record(s). |

To Update from CI Record View 4) Select the name of the CI you wish to view from the list. 5) From the CI detail page type in or use the lookup button on the Governed By field. Select the name of the Service Offering. 6) Select Update

Repeat the steps until all applicable CIs for your service have been updated.
Verification Step

1) Navigate to the “Service Owner/Manager Snapshot” dashboard. |

2) Select the “CI Records” tab to confirm that the expected CIs display under the “CIs Governed by my Service Offerings” widget. |
